Built in the Doric architectural style, the temple originally measured around 70 meters long and 32 meters wide, surrounded by a peristyle of 34 massive limestone columns. Despite suffering damage from earthquakes and being later converted into a Christian church during the Byzantine period, the structure remains remarkably well preserved.
Today, the restored ruins of the Temple of Zeus stand as a striking reminder of Cyrene’s ancient grandeur and the enduring legacy of Greek civilization in Libya. As part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Cyrene, it continues to attract historians, archaeologists, and travelers from around the world.
