Tour : Libya Introduction Tour
Tour Date: May 2023
This trip to Libya started when I came across the website of ToursLibya.com by chance and made a wish. This is my first time doing a full-day guided tour. I have always been a self-sufficient traveller, so I was apprehensive about guided tours. Moreover, in addition to the tour guide, one person from the tourist police was also on board, which made me feel uneasy. However, after experiencing it, ToursLibya.com dispelled such anxieties. Now I just want to say thank you for providing me with a wonderful trip.
On the first day, head east from Tripoli, the capital, to Leptis Magna, one of the world’s largest Roman ruins. The guide is very friendly, and when I say that I want to listen to music while I go, he plays a variety of music. Also, on the way, I expressed my wish to see the coastal forest in Nagarza, which is not listed at all in the guidebook. Then, the tour guide talked with the tourist police and the local police who were on board and took us to the site. There is a military-related facility right next to the coastal forest, and the tourist police talked to the military facility and obtained permission to observe the forest near the military facility. The forest observation here is the result of the excellent cooperation between the guide and the tourist police. If it was a solo trip, which I always do, it would never come true. Then go straight to your destination, Leptis Magna. At the site, we thoroughly enjoyed this world heritage site with explanations from a guide dedicated to the site. By the way, the tip of the ruins is already the sea. Mediterranean. For the first time in my life, I saw the Mediterranean Sea. What a luxury I am to have seen it in the Roman ruins.
2nd day
On this day, we went to the Nahuusa Mountains and visited three places. These three places are the three places I personally requested, like the coastal forest in Nagarza the other day. I am grateful to the tour guide who fully accepted my wishes and carried them out. Also, I speak very little English and cannot hear it. The guide must have been in trouble. However, he spoke English as clearly as possible, and if he still didn’t understand, he used a translator on his smartphone to give me as much information as possible. This is something you cannot get if you are traveling alone.
“The first desired place is a small lake where you can swim.” It was like an oasis and the temperature was low, it was like another world. Various oasis plants were also growing and it was worth seeing.
The next place of hope is the old town of Tarmissa. This is a place where you can enjoy a wonderful view! “There is a town in ruins on top of a steep cliff.” It’s a place worth visiting the Nahuusa Mountains just to come here! The ruins look like they were hundreds of years old, and they aren’t as flashy as the Roman ruins we saw yesterday. However, because the times are so close, the spirit of the people of that time can be felt everywhere. At my feet grew various grasses and shrubs, which are common in wastelands. While I was observing it, an old man who lived near the ruins came and explained various medicinal effects of the grass I was observing. Some of the leaves can be worn on the forehead to summon coolness (I may have misheard the English description. I have a favor to ask Mr Sem. Please confirm this. Is it really cool or is it some other reason?).
The third preferred location is Qasr al Hajj. Originally a storehouse, it is believed to have been built during the time of trade between the Mediterranean region and inland Africa. Inside, various folk tools used by the people of this area were displayed, and I couldn’t help but look at them. Actually, I used to be a museum curator. I once converted a warehouse into a handmade museum. Therefore, the exhibition inside was interesting and even felt nostalgic.
3rd day
This day is a tour of Tripoli city.
The first thing I went to was a city tour of Italian colonial architecture. As the name suggests, it is a townscape of Italian architecture. Anyone who has traveled to Europe will tell you that it feels like Europe. After this, head to the Old Town on the other side of the square. The old town is the city of the Islamic world itself. There were many people, things overflowing, and various handicrafts were being sold and made. What’s interesting is that no matter where you go in the city, the tour guide will talk to the people around you as if you were talking to a friend. Does that person know most of the people in this town? I don’t think so. I believe it is based on the kindness and friendliness of the people of this city. No, I was able to meet kind people not only here, but also in the old town of Talmissa and Qasr al Hajj. A glimpse of people living calmly and energetically. It could be said that this was the truly wonderful experience of my trip to Libya. In Japan, people share information that Libya is dangerous because of its civil war and that people should not go there. I urge those who believe such information to come and see the real Libya. Because that’s not the case. I would very much like to say that.
To be precise, there was only one dangerous thing in Libya. It’s delicious food. Libyan cuisine is influenced by various cuisines, including ancient Roman, Berber, Arab, Turkish and Italian. And it is a very delicious dish that mixes the good parts of each country’s cuisine well. However, even though it’s delicious, if you eat too much of it, you’ll get an upset stomach, and after that you’ll end up having to take care of yourself by eating less. Please be careful not to overeat when you come to Libya.

I spent the most wonderful days discovering the Western part of Libya. An amazing country with very welcoming people. Tripoli and its love story with the Mediterranean; plus the impressive Roman cities of Laeptis Magna and Sabbratah. Tourslibya.com was the best way of going there. Hope this helps encourage more tourists to visit such a fantastic destination, eager to receive as many visitors as it used before the 2011 Revolution.

ToursLibya.com, Sem to be more precise, responded totally adequately to my call for help when I need to do some linguistic fieldwork in Zuara. He organized transport from the airport in Tripoli to Zuara and an introduction to the best group of speakers I have hoped for. Unexpected efficiency in a situation where I was worried it might take forever to be set up with the right speakers. Many many thanks!

The tour was great all the sights and experiences were wide and varied. But what made it truly memorable was my guide. Saleh was pure gold one of the most resourceful and diplomatic guides I have ever had and having travelled to 160 countries and experiencing the whole spectrum of guides , well I guess that\’s saying something. I\’d recommend ToursLibya.com to anyone contemplating visiting Libya -a fantatic country and wonderful people…Stephen Fenech

We had a really great time in Libya, so thank you for organising it. Our guide, Adam Aref, was a real star and made the trip. The Greek and Roman stuff was beyond our expectations and the last few days to Ghadames and back was great. The Libyans themselves are a delight a real pleasure to deal with compared to the pestering you get in Morocco or Egypt. Thanks again for organising a wonderful trip
