Eslyien house

Eslyien House is a unique 200 years old traditional Berber Guest that is located in the heart of the Nafusa Mountain village of Yefren, offering a truly amazing experience that showcases how the Amazigh (Berber) people lived in the past.

The upper part of the house features rooms accessible from a central courtyard, each charmingly decorated with traditional Amazigh textiles. The lower part of the cottage is entered from the hillside and contains three underground rooms, with only the en-suite shower having a small window. This clever design kept the original inhabitants cool in summer and warm in winter, creating a very atmospheric and romantic setting, enhanced by the warm tones of the rocky ceilings.

It is situated on a hilltop affording views of the surrounding olive trees that form part of the history of the original olive oil press on the grounds of the property. Scattered throughout eslyien House are tools, collectibles and memorabilia that have been used by family generations, providing guests with a unique insight into the history of the region. You can marvel at the beauty of a Libyan sunset, and gaze in wonder at the myriad of stars visible on a peaceful night.
