Home / Tripolitania / Abu Kammash

These excavations tell us that history is going back to the Punic, and Roman time. The site extends a couple of kilometres along the coast. The city is located about 25 kilometres from Ras al Jedir, where the border is with Tunisia. Nowadays Abu Kammash is a village inhabited mostly by Berbers. A reef runs parallel to the shore for about two miles, enclosing a beautiful small fishing harbour, with blue-painted fishing boats. We believe there are more archaeology discoveries to be made in lands but also underwater.
